2012 Weekend Events Calendar

Please note that, with the exception of the Parade and the Designer Tour of Homes, all events listed below will be held at the George Washington Masonic Memorial (101 Callahan Drive, Alexandria)

Consistently ranked by the Southeast Tourism Society as one of the Top 20 Events in the South, The Campagna Center's Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend and Parade draws nearly 30,000 individuals and families. Tourists travel from throughout the Mid-Atlantic region to participate in this celebrated community event.

The Walk Weekend Events, including Saturday's Parade and Home Tours, are held rain or shine. In the event of severe weather on Saturday morning, please watch this site for additional information and/or contact The Campagna Center at (703) 549-0111 for a recorded message on any delays or cancellations. Remember, we are a hardy folk and if the streets are open, we plan to march!

Deck the Halls with Santa - A Children's Party

Deck the Halls with Santa 2012! A charming Alexandria tradition for children to have an exclusive audience with Santa and “Plaid the Dog.” Featuring age appropriate crafts for children to help “Deck the Halls,” seasonal treats, and a raffle full of goodies, toys, and experiences for the whole family to enjoy.

*Please note crafts are ideally for ages 2-5 with little assistance required. The Masonic Temple does not permit strollers.

Taste of Scotland Patron Pub

Patron Pub features Scottish fare and a complete top-shelf tasting menu, including various rare Scotches.  This complete Scotch selection will be available only at the Patron Pub.  The remainder of the evening will feature a limited Scotch selection and bourbon tasting as well as beer, wine and light cuisine.

Taste of Scotland

The Taste of Scotland - Attended by nearly 500 guests, including the Lord Provost of Dundee, Scotland, this special event features a limited Scotch selection, Scottish ale sampling, as well as beer, wine, and light fare. Event is for adults only. Opening at 8:00pm

The Campagna Center's Scottish Christmas Walk Parade

Grand Marshal: To Be Announced

Over 100 Scottish Clans, pipe and drum bands, Scottish dancers, re-enactment groups, Scottie dog groups, dignitaries and, of course, Santa Claus will march through the streets of Old Town.

Route: Beginning at the corner of Wilkes and South Saint Asaph Streets in Old Town and ending at King and Royal Streets

Massed Band Concert

Following the parade, the massed band concert takes place at King and Royal Streets in front of City Hall at Market Square.

The Holiday Designer Tour of Homes

Stroll through lovely properties dressed up for the holidays by acclaimed interior designers and local florists. Tour will be held rain or shine. Tickets are required for the home tour and are non-refundable. Sorry, no pets or children under the age of 12 are permitted on the tour.

'Tis the Season: Music for Chorus and Brass

Artistic Director Brian Gendron will lead the Alexandria Choral Society, Pro Coro Alexandria, and an ensemble of professional brass players in a festive evening of beautiful holiday music. The program will include familiar carols, classical music of the season, and performances of the winning compositions from Alexandria Choral Society's Annual Student Carol Competition.
